Storyline Transcripts

Standard

The standard with which Michigan Virtual courses need to comply.

Storyline files will have transcripts that include images of the slides and the voiceover script added to the resources section of the Storyline file.

 

Requirements

What exactly do course developers need to include in order to comply with this standard?

Transcripts should include images of the slides, voiceover scripts, and should be in the resources section of the Storyline file. Transcripts should be accessible and attached as a link to a PDF in Google Drive.

 

Implementation

How can course developers implement this standard? What is the process for doing so?

Exporting the slide images and notes from Storyline:

  1. Select home and then publish.
  2. Select word document. Make sure that show layers and show slide notes are selected.
  3. Select publish.
  4. Select open.
  5. Go to the correct project folder in google drive and add the word document to drive.
  6. Open the file in google drive.
  7. Ctrl+a and then ctrl+c all of the text.
  8. Create a new google document
  9. Ctrl+v into the new google document
  10. Name the document Title of the Module: Transcript.
  11. Use the appropriate stylesheet to style the headers and fonts (for PLS this might be an external partner, for SLS it should follow Michigan Virtual heading structure.
  12. Go through the script and move any layered slides into the correct spot in the notes transcript.
  13. Add the page numbers to the footers.
  14. Right-click on each image and put the title as the name of the slide and then the description as what slide it is.
  15. Run Grackle on the document, fix any issues, and then export as a PDF.

Adding Transcript to Storyline:

  1. Select home and then player.
  2. Select resources.
  3. Name the resource Title of the Module: Transcript and add the link to PDF in google drive.
  4. Be sure to save your changes.
