Player & Project Settings

Standard

The standard with which Michigan Virtual courses need to comply.

Articulate Storyline Player settings must be set to, “Modern” to ensure the file is responsive/accessible and follow the correct publish settings.

Alignment

WCAG

There are multiple WCAG standards this would meet, the main one being SC 1.4.10 (AA).

Requirements

What exactly do course developers need to do in order to comply with this standard?

All newly created Articulate Storyline Player settings must be set to, “Modern” to ensure the file is responsive/accessible.

Implementation

How can course developers implement this standard? What is the process for doing so?

Player Setting

  1. From the main screen, select the “Player” icon
  2. Select the “Player Properties” menu, and then select “Player Style: Modern”

Note: If updating an existing project, check to make sure the Player Style is changed from, Classic to Modern.

When the content contains only a video, a second slide may be added to capture the video progress and requires navigation buttons for each slide. The following player settings may be added:

  • Features – Seekbar – Allow drag after completion (check this setting prior to publishing.) If seek is disabled, this will enable seek after the activity is completed.
  • Features – Allow Speed (Optional, depending on requirements of course)
  • Other – Resume or Restart: Always Resume.  This option takes away the choice of Resume or Restart and will always resume the video at the last saved location which is triggered by the navigation button.

Project Size

  • Default: 720 width x 540 height
  • IPad: 960 width x 540 height (Literacy size)
  • No player: 960 width x 720 height

You can change the story size in the Design tab.
