Attribution Document

Standard

The standard with which Michigan Virtual courses need to comply.

Courses will appropriately attribute content used in the Course Attribution Document and will be saved in the project folder.

The attribution document will also be linked in the footer of the CourseArc course.

Requirements

What exactly do course developers need to include in order to comply with this standard?

The Course Attribution Document can be found in the Template Gallery and is called “4. Deploy Folder: Attributions Template.”

The purpose is to appropriately attribute the content we use in our courses. In its simplest form, an attribution consists of a Title, Author, Source, and License (TASL). The title of the content being attributed should be displayed on the content page itself, along with a link to its source.

Implementation

How can course developers implement this standard? What is the process for doing so?

All attributions need the:

  1. Title: What is the name of the work?
  2. Author: Who created the source material?
  3. Source: Where can others find this work?
    1. For most of our work, this will be a URL to the original source of the material. The URL should not be hyperlinked.
  4. License: How can you use the work?
    1. You must specify the work’s Creative Common license or the terms of service.
